First Threshold establishes the operative condition of the Hunter collection through restraint rather than declaration. A non-functioning watch mechanism occupies the center of the object, no longer measuring time, but holding it in suspension. Time here is not lost, nor commemorated—it is rendered inert, deliberately paused.

The materials are assembled with visible control: the mechanical core remains intact yet inactive, while decorative elements are reduced to near silence. Ornament appears tentative, almost withdrawn, allowing the object to function as an intimate marker rather than a public emblem. Worn close to the body, the piece assumes the role of a private acknowledgment—an internal moment of awareness rather than a signal to others.

Within applied arts discourse, the object operates as a threshold: the first moment in which time ceases to pass unnoticed and becomes a condition to be carried, rather than observed.
