Understory Signal introduces a new logic of awareness: intelligence operating beneath dominance. The piece references the forest floor — a zone of quiet exchange, where growth, decay, and information circulate without hierarchy.
Mechanical elements are partially embedded, no longer asserting control but listening. The object reads as a receiver rather than a transmitter, suggesting that survival now depends on attentiveness rather than force.
Within the Hunter narrative, this work marks the first moment where the hunter ceases to stand above the environment and instead becomes part of its communicative fabric.
